Wool Coat!

Finally! I told you I would eventually upload pictures! So here it is, the infamous wool coat, finished just in time for the hottest summer of my life. Although, it is quite nice to wear while the AC is blasting :-).

A little view from the back.

Colla-h! The collar is possibly my favorite part of the coat (not counting the buttons. So shiny!). I love how it's all big and exaggerated, and yet still practical. I am, for once, looking forward to the brutal Midwest winters we have here in Illinois, just to strut around in this cozy, and fashionable, woolen wonder.

Back tab (it has a snap so it separates).

And it is fully lined! I am so proud of myself for successfully executing that. Plus it makes the insides all silky smooth and cozy.

Even my kitty-cat seems to like it :-)

P.S. I used the Talea pattern from BurdaStyle to make this coat. And it's free! As for the fabric, I once again honored Project Runway by shopping at Mood (well, moodfabrics.com, but it still counts).

  1. I cut out this pattern two years ago but still didn't find the right wool to make it. Your wool-print is very nice, I love it!

    1. Thank you! I had the same problem- the right wool is so hard to find. I must have been searching for over a month before I found this fabric. Don't give up! :-)

  3. Hi! I found your blog through BurdaStyle, while browsing through member projects for Talea coat! Yours look great! I am going to make it for myself this winter..

The pattern instruction says it requires 3meters. Did it take the same amount for your coat?

  4. I love your coat! It looks absolutely wonderful :)
I was thinking of making it as well, but I just can't understand what I'm supposed to do with the facing. Did you have any trouble with this?
