Mustard Badass Jacket

This jacket makes me feel like a badass. It has that motorcycle gang leather aura about it, and yet it's made out of cotton linen. I think it's safe to say that this is my new favorite jacket. Once again, I find myself being upset with this summer being as hot as it is, because I can't wear the things I make. Why must I make cold weather clothes in summer? Why? :-(

Anyway, I finished this jacket a little while ago but I've just been too lazy to take any pictures of it until now. The pattern I used, the Larissa pattern from BurdaStyle, I've had my eye on for a looooong time (probably since I first discovered burdastyle.com) and I finally worked up enough desire for it that I caved and bought the pattern. Patterns are my guilty pleasure. Other people may spend their money on food or video games or comic books, but me, I buy patterns. It doesnt matter if I ever get around to making them, I just have to have them. Which also explains why I love free patterns so much.

And so, on to the detail shots. Yay!

I absolutely love the shoulder lapels (and they have snaps! I love snaps, they give me a reason to bang around with a hammer)

Sleeve vents- so super cool

Zipper pockets- I've never done pockets like this in the middle of a field before. They turned out surprisingly well.

And, to make it even cooler, you can wear it two different ways: 1) Half zipped and badass, and 2) Fully zipped (and still badass)

Sorry, I didn't take any pictures of the back, oops! But I shall describe it in all it's glory for you. It has basically a normal back with a center back seam, but what's really cool is there are shoulder vents by the back of the sleeves. Neato, right? I thought they were pretty sweet :-)

Anyway, I'm off to go ice skating with my BFF, Jenny! Yay! Now I get to go skating three time this week (happy day!). With today, plus hockey on Thursday and Saturday, I have a feeling that it's going to be a good week. :-)
